Near my hotel, this was a fantastic collection of stalls and shops, selling everything from beach gear to tchotchkes to hand made jewelry and crafts. And pretty cheap food stalls, too. I bought a tiki mask from one of the vendors and even got to haggle over the price!
The carp pond is in the center, near the Kalakaua Ave entrance.
Hong Kong's Star Ferry

The Star Ferry is a cheap, easy, and scenic way to cross Victoria Harbour over to Kowloon. It's in all the guide books and you'll find locals and tourists on it.
It's not a very long trip to Kowloon though. So you only get a few minutes to take in the beautiful views.
