Cherry Point Feds Feed Families campaign rolls on

Elaine Taylor, animal control officer with Cherry Point Provost Marshals Office and volunteer for the Feds Feed Families campaign, collects donated food from the air station commissary, Aug. 3. Since the beginning of the campaign, Cherry Point personnel have donated more than 4,500 lbs. of non-perishable food to local food banks. The federal-wide food drive is in response to food bank shortages during the summer months as children are left without school nutrition programs.

This was an unexpected gift from a friend in The Philippines.
NOTE: I have not collected live shells since the mid-1970's. I believe that the animal itself is much more valuable alive than destroyed for its shell.

Also called the Pearl conch, this snail is listed among the threatened animals of Singapore. It is eaten by some people. Next to it was a tangle of thread-like stuff. Are those its egg strings? There's so much yet to learn about our shores!
