Best image of the series. Mother Sea Otter, Enhydra lutris, indignant, retrieves her baby pup and carries her to safety and away from our boat which inadvertently was closer than we had planned. We always remain a respectful distance from these precious marine mammals, and this pair unexpectedly appeared adjacent to us.
Taken during the Morro Bay, CA Winter Bird Festival while leading a SubSea Tours Dos Osos Bay Birding Photo Cruise. 18 January 2013.
