Un simbol al Bărăganului, cândva comună aici, "comoara" a fost vânată până a dispărut. / The great bustard, once a common animal in the Romanian Plain, has been hunted into extinction in this part of Romania.
Wikipedia in Romanian claims that it can still be found in western Romania, in the Romanian part of the Pannonian Plain.
