Kawau Island, Hauraki Gulf, New Zealand

Kawau Island was once the home of the first Governor General of NZ, Sir George Grey. He imported many exotic animals, including five species of wallabies and possums but these caused considerable harm to native plants, birds and animals. His home 'Mansion House' and property is now a public park and a sanctuary for kiwi and weka bird. Kawau is accessed by ferries leaving from Sandspit on the mainland. Look out for the 'cream trip' a return journey that delivers milk and papers (and passengers) to many of the islands

Just north of Camp Wood, along one of the Twisted Sisters, is an exotic animal ranch. I reckon for the right price, you can mount a giraffe head on your wall.
