Frog with casqued head

Trachycephalus jordani from Western Ecuador.
This frog has a casqued head on which the skin is co-ossified with the underlying bones. This type of skull usually is associated with phragmosis, a protective behaviour in which the frog enters its burrow and closes its entrance with the bony head.
