It was a complete fluke that I had the camera with me today. It's a staff day, so I thought I'd use the opportunity to take some photos of the snow on the mountains before moseying into work.

I also took some pics of the commute on the way in, too, because I decided it was past time to contribute to CJ's "Daily Commutes" pool. I thought getting a snap of the "Frank Sinatra Drive" sign might be neat. (Note: it was better in theory. Photos taken while driving aren't the best, unless you're immortal and rich and can afford to crash. The photo above being but one example.)

So, a blurry Monte Carlo is off to the side in those photos, just a few hours before the fire. Naturally the one photo that might've been really good is the one where a semi pulled up next to me. (And admittedly, at the time I thought the truck might make interesting leading lines. Who wants to look at the icky City Center project next door to the MC anyway? Well, apparently, a lot of people, but not me.)

I'm sad that a casino I like has lost some of its edifice, but it's hard to be upset when you remember MGM. (I didn't live in Las Vegas then, but it was still a huge deal, even to a 10-year-old.) It's hard to believe there could ever be another Strip casino fire - that one should've filled the quota for a hundred years.

I missed the Las Vegas - Boston flight of 4:01 pm. They booked me on the 22:10 pm. I walked, camera in hand, from the airport to Las Vegas (45 minutes, not a big deal), where I had a gourmet dinner at Wendy's.

This is best viewed tiny. I didn't notice that the selector on my camera was on "manual focus". Still I'm very keen on this one.

This is a very tall cactus, near the airport. Probably twice as tall as myself.
