At least, I think those are its eyes.
I would love to know what kind of spider this is. It's about half an inch long, maybe a little less. Photo taken at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville, N.J. (near Atlantic City), USA. This guy was on a railing for one of the boardwalk paths near the entrance to the refuge loop.
