Mike and I are at the tailor's squeezing the poor salesman, Raj, for the best "package". He is the most patient dude I've ever met.

The wives have gone shopping without us, leaving us to exchange a pair of kid shoes that my wife had bought at Central which looked, on hindsight, too small for Faithie's feet. That's what good husbands are for. Exchanging shoes.

The two of us took a bus to Central, at 5 baht each (22 cents) and after exchanging the shoes, we walked to the tailor's, located inside a hotel shopping arcade.

Mike's looking for a suit, some pants and shirts, and I'm looking for some pants and shirts. And this shop looked quite reputable because some foreign ministers attending an APEC meeting, and Kenny Rogers got their clothes made here. And hey, if it's good enough for Kenny, it's good enough for us.

Seems like all the tailor shops here are owned by Sikhs. Even the shops with Ang Moh (and even French) names. Imagine a Sikh named Thierry Singh.

It's so hard to see how a shirt would look on you, just by looking at the material. So I stuck to safe colours.

Getting your pants tailored is also very enlightening.

"Sorry, but my waist is thirty-what?!" I asked, with a quiver in my voice, as the tailor read out my measurements in Thai to his assistant. Thai can sound like a Chinese dialect and I heard a number I could not believe I heard.

He repeated the number to me in English. Yep, that number sounds exactly the same in Thai as it does in Cantonese.

Better not let the wife know, or else sure get nagged to exercise.

We are heading to meet the wives after this, at MBK, and taking the BTS, their MRT. It's not cheap at 15 baht per person, especially since there's 2 of us guys (a cab ride would be almost the same price) but we avoid travelling on the jammed streets. And they don't have that pain in the ass get-your-deposit back thing we have back home.

The women have been shopping for some hours now and not a pip from them, not even a phone call. For husbands, that not a good sign. We'd better go hunt for them soon.
