2008 summer vacation, Michigan, Manistee National Forest, Bear Track campground

Campsite at Bear Track, where we started to bunk down but changed our mind and left because we weren't carrying enough water with us. Because, just like at Driftwood Valley where we'd gone first, there was NO water. That is, we were all set to boil and/or filter our water, but they'd completely disabled and capped off all of the pumps.
At any rate, Bear Track is pretty enough -- a single road with the campsites on the right set atop the bluff overlooking the river, with mosquitoes galore (as usual) and an outhouse. No campground hosts at any of these. There was a lone dude camping at Bear Track.
This was the night we ended up in a motel because we couldn't find available water at any of the NF campgrounds we cruised through. The problem is that there's no way to ascertain in advance whether a given campground will have water because the official NF publications are wrong. You have to physically drive to the sites and check the pumps.
(No surprise, this place and Driftwood Valley were maintained by the same sucktastic concessionaire.)
