This is a Maikaefer (May beetle) that I knit as a custom piece for a Swiss video artist who is making a stop-motion animated film. It involves 5 animals, each of whom strives to go beyond their physical limitations. For instance, there is a badger that can fly and a fox that can dive. The beetle that I am knitting wants to be able to tunnel like a mole, so she is going to outfit him with a drill bit that will poke through his head like a unicorn horn!

Kitra loves rocking out to all kinds of music. A heavy metal show? Sure! The Seashell Symphony? Of course - he will even swim upstream to get to the best tunes. It doesn't matter, Kitra just loves music. Hopefully he can make a new friend who also is down with funk, reggae, and everything in between.
