The Skógasafn museum next to Skógafoss in Skógar is definitely worth a visit.
As Icelanders didn't really have much in the way of natural resources, wood for instance, parents often made toys for their children out of bones. Here you can see sheep, fences, people, and other animals.
Indeed, wood was so valuable that we saw an example of a children's doll that was used during part of the year as a liver beater. Imagine giving your daughter a doll, and then saying, "Sorry honey, I need to make dinner now ... wham, wham, wham."
