.... well this little burrowing insectivore from Madagascar looks like a hedgehog. However, it is closely related to aardvarks, rock hyraxes and elephants ie. Afican mammals - these animals are its ancestors though it is now closely related to golden moles and elephant shrews. It is called a TENREC.
When holding it you can feel how powerful its claws are - useful for burrowing of course. Fortunately, it didn't give me a demonstration of its teeth, it wouldn't smile for the photograph either.
