This cat has adopted me in the past few days. He seems to get along with most of the other animals (well, except bitch-cat Nibby, of course).

Here is a little surprise we found outside the Dojo.

I just noticed that the box in the back says "adventure tastes better when shared". This could be applicable to the cats' situation.

BACKSTORY: The cats were missing for awhile. Carolyn finally found out why. They had found a snake!

And BTW, the snake was eventually released outside -- still alive (for the moment).

I actually took 343 photos, and reduced it to 13. So I threw away 24 out of 25 of the photos I took.

Once the kitties realized there were fish moving all around in the water... They were very interested.

The hurricane gave us these fish -- which we never had before! The waters must have really rushed.

And if you also notice -- the huge log that has been here for years is now completely gone without a trace.

Also, the ivy roots have all been tugged by the rushing hurricane waters, and now all "point" downstream. They were lucky to survive.

This video shows the scene of the previous photograph in a bit more detail. It opens with one of the cattle at the Wharfedale Auction Market getting somewhat over-excited and falling over shortly after entering the floor on which it would be sold. The struggling creature gave the auctioneer a bit of a surprise - you can see his rather flushed and amused expression at the close of the sale! However, once bidding is underway he never breaks his stride until the final price is reached, regardless of whether or not the animal remains in the ring.

The numbers being shouted indicate bids of pence per kilogram; the units in which cows are sold. The first beast seen here, despite its brief panic, sold for 91p per kilo and weighed 786kg, thus fetching a price of around £715. That's in the average to lower end of what cattle go for - prize specimens can easily bring £1500 at auction.

Apologies for the slightly shaky camera work, I'm currently on a learning curve of discovering how to properly use the 7D but gradually becoming more knowledgeable...

20071216 - Beavis - 144-4467 - playing with super duct tape, sticking out tongue

Clint got this "super duct tape" (aka "military-grade duct tape" or "NASCAR tape" as the pool table people called it) at the Ranger Surplus Store in Tysons for /roll. THERE'S NO GOING BACK. This tape makes duct tape look like scotch tape. For the first time ever, the shelf in our fridge that keeps falling off every 6 months (with normal duct tape) is more or less permanently fixed (with super duct tape -- you can even open and close the fridge by grabbing the detatched shelf now!). I now consider normal duct tape only valid for temporarily situations -- like securing a bundle for transport. I don't think I'll ever look at normal duct tape the same way again. It's a cheap bastardization. It actually takes almost ALL my strength just to peel the tape, and I usually have to use scissors to cut it (I don't use scissors with normal duct tape). It sticks so hard that it's really hard to get off, if you mistakenly put it somewhere. This stuff is HARDCORE.

...Plus, it also makes a great cat toy!
