Grover video

Grover is a sweet, senior, talkative cat. He was previously feral, and over time has been tamed. Now he enjoys being petted and sitting in high places so he can see everything going on in the room.
He is still a bit skittish still around new people and some cats, so it is important to go slow when you first meet him. He loves one on one attention and his special Whiskas wet cat food he gets every week from his TLC buddy.
Grover would benefit from being placed in a foster home to receive one on one attention. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Grover, come on down to the shelter and pay him a visit in the shy room. He would love to meet you!

Carolyn caught Oranjello dreaming while he slept, and filmed a video. When she started laughing, Clint didn't know a video was being taken, and repeatedly asked, "What? What's going on?" Carolyn didn't answer, because she didn't want to talk over the video. Finally, Clint paused the music, totally waking up the cat. The cat sleeps like Clint sleeps -- constant music masks the distractions of little sounds go away; music stopping means waking up. He woke up FAST when the music was un-paused.
When Clint asks, "What's up?", the answer is Oranjello!

What is a Seamless Texture / Pattern?
A seamless texture is an special image, where one side of a image exactly matches the opposite side, so that the edges blend into each other when repeated. Seamless textures are used for desktop wallpaper, webpage backgrounds, video games, Photoshop fills and in 3D rendering programs.
How did you make it?
This texture was made using software specially designed to aid in seamless texture creation. Some of the programs I’ve use are Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Image Synth, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, Imagelys, and a Wacom tablet.

Translations is a collaborative work by Tom Burtonwood and Jacob C. Hammes. It has been selected for the inaugural Art Loop Open an art competition in Chicago. Translations is exhibited in the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel located at 230 N. Michigan. Members of the public are invited to view the piece from October 15th – 29th and vote on it. Translations was first presented at Three Walls as part of their “Chasing Two Rabbits” program in Winter 2010.

Contained within our unique animal identity is a strong desire to witness and experience symmetry, a desire informed by an overwhelming lack of its immediate presence in our waking lives. Symmetry and uniformity are present in the video collaboration between Burtonwood and Hammes, abstracted in terms of geometry and pure tones. Folding cubes and squares are accompanied by modulated, warbling sine waves and occasional bursts of distorted guttural voices, suggesting a human presence in a world of pure geometric and sonic abstraction.
Tom Burtonwood is an artist originally from the UK living and working in Oak Park, IL. He is interested in an array of subjects and issues relating to image making, ubiquitous technology and interactive objects. Currently he is working on a series of modular color studies relating to the video game Tetris. Recent exhibitions include The Center for Book and Paper Arts, Columbia College, Chicago; Three Walls, Chicago; Fountain, Brooklyn; Apex Art, New York. Burtonwood teaches at Columbia College and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Jacob C Hammes is a Chicago based interdisciplinary artist whose range of projects investigate the strained relationships and sites of interaction between humans and the natural world. Hammes is primarily interested in emphasizing the disconnection between the desire to emulate nature and our ability to understand it. Primarily using sculpture, digital media, and hypnosis, Hammes attempts to reveal the struggle to connect with our own animal identity.
Hammes has exhibited and performed extensively throughout the midwest and internationally. Hammes' work and various projects have been reviewed in publications such as Art Papers, Proximity Magazine, and the Leonardo Music journal.

BACKSTORY: Too much raccoon noise in the attic! Time to install a built-in ladder, so that we can get up into the attic in 60 seconds to scare away any animals before they decide to move in again. Project cost exceeded 0 and involved 5+ Home Depot trips.

Beavis loved playing in the box, so finally we set it upright and let him learn to jump out of it. He learned pretty fast! After a few tries, he could get out of it in 1 jump!

Apart from tearing up tissue paper, chewing on anything he can get, climbing my lap with his razor sharp claws and making me clean up after his mess, Lil' Joey likes to sit on my computer table to watch videos and photos of Zeus and Phoebe.
The black spots on his nose were temporarily ingrained stains; they were gone after I sent him to the vet's for his first vaccination and a kitty bath.

Mom painted that yardsale table orange. We have 2 pink pillows that are exactly the same as the orange pillows on the couch. Softer than all other pillows, but also less durable than all other pillows. And Oranjello likes to bite the corners while kneading into them non-stop.

BACKSTORY: Carolyn found a turtle -- right where we turn around in the chute to get out of our driveway. He surely would have been crushed had she not noticed, as he was not walking. He had dug a little hole and was kind of hanging out in it. So we took him inside for a photo shoot with the cat, named him Timmy The Turtle (after a NoFX song), and kept him in our bathtub for 3 days. Why? I don't know. Just for the novelty of it. Later, we released him by the creek in our back yard.
Another interesting thing about this turtle is that he barely fit in his shell. When his head went in, his tail would stick out; and vice-versa.

This documentary, I could say a portrait film of a well known nature photographer evolved as if with no efforts. Everything that was available on that day of filming was captured on an hour of tape. No doubt exceptional works should usually take a lot of effort.
I think the most beautiful things are things that are most simple. But to keep it simple is sometimes not so easy. People say too much, and often clutter a beautiful view with a pointless thicket of words. Arne's words go in harmony with what we see, where we are, and what he is. He talks of his view of the world and experiences in the nature. A lot of his pictures (about 100) are also shown. For a long time at least when we filmed this he considered himself to be a marshland photographer, but I know that he has won awards for nude in nature genre and has now taken up forests and hunting for animal photos.
Some of you may not speak Estonian, but you don't really need to, as words are not necessary to understand the essence of what this is. You are invited to experience almost hypnotizing reflection of his soul and enjoy the scenic images that he has photographed at the same location.
His presence reminds me of an old Estonian film entitled -Summer in The a Primeval Foest (Laanetaguse suvi) - where boys find abandoned wolf puppies in the forest marshlands and decide to grow them up without anyone else knowing about it. From this film is also one of the songs, which is performed by Peeter Tooma. That film is also a reason for the wolf howls. Another song is by Anu Taul, a folk singer in Estonia, the runic song talks of birds and people.
I shoot this material in year 2000 in Estonia Rabivere marshland nature preserve. The tape come out of the drawer just now, close to 10 years later, when I am able to edit it myself as I please.
I could say that I am his student in more then one way, and our friendship has lasted over 20years.
Arne told me to erase the comparison with Ansel Adams, because. I must say that I will never reach his level, and even so I admire his monumental work highly, it has not been my goal to achieve similar results. In ideal my pictures should be more intimate and I rather look at things from inside out then the opposite. I hope to look at nature with the eye of nature not the other way, which is as to see with the eye of people in to the world of nature.
Arne is still visiting the same location after the 10 years. He has just sent me some pictures from there of wild barnacle geese. I hope we can together find a venue where his works can be displayed.
I hope these 20 minutes give you something extraordinary in exchange for your time.
