The world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship, with over 3000 events across the UK helping more people to get into business.

The campaign to celebrate entrepreneurialism takes place from 12-18 November in over 115 countries.

This year's theme is ‘pass it on’. The aim is to pass on practical help and support to start-ups and people who are thinking about getting into business.

David Cameron, British Prime Minister, at the Export for Growth conference at London's Imax Theatre; the Prime Minister announced a business growth package to help Britain’s small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) create jobs, export to new markets, secure finance and cut red tape.

Measures include a £95 million investment from the Regional Growth Fund to benefit hundreds of small businesses. This funding will support those SMEs considering investing in new capital assets and is expected to create at least 4,000 jobs and unlock around £500 million of new investment.

Captains of industry from world leading UK companies are backing a new Government campaign to highlight the best of modern British manufacturing at an exhibition during the Olympic Games.

Business Secretary Vince Cable and Business Minister Mark Prisk have today formally launched the Make it in Great Britain campaign, which aims to transform outdated views of UK manufacturing and dispel the myth that Britain ‘doesn’t make anything anymore’.

Senior traders such as Joe Greenwell from Ford of Britain, William Butler-Adams from Brompton Bicycles and Michael Ryan from Bombardier Aerospace are behind the campaign. They will act as the first ‘industry champions’ taking formal roles as part of the campaign and supporting its work.

The exhibition will take place at the Science Museum and will run from 24 July to 9 September 2012. The campaign builds on the already successful See Inside Manufacturing initiative and will celebrate the successes of the manufacturing sector and encourage young people to consider a career in the industry. There will also be a specific element, the Make it in Great Britain Challenge, focusing on new innovations yet to be brought to the market.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster launches a new programme aimed at helping businesses in Strabane and Omagh grow through tailored sales and marketing support. The Inspire Business Programme, part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund, is a new joint initiative between Strabane and Omagh District Councils and is open to small and medium sized businesses in the Council areas. Winners and Advisor of the Up-Start Competition, a business pitch competition open to participants enrolled in CIBC Presents Entrepreneurship 101. Individuals, or teams of individuals, have to give a ten minute presentation on an idea for a technology based business that they wish to implement (or, if appropriate, for a business that they have already started). They are expected to apply the concepts that they have learned from the course to their business idea, and to make a compelling case that this will lead to a very successful business.
