Air Canada Business Class
business listing
Air Canada's business class section on our 777. Looks amazing.

*Airplanes 101* (See Airplanes 101 Set)
Name: Boeing 777-300
Manufacturer: Boeing (USA) .
Main Role: large capacity medium-very long range mainline jetliner
Basic design: Two engined twin aisle wide body mainline jetliner.
Capacity: Roughly 305-440passengers
Range: 9600km - 14.300km
First delivery date: 1995
Still in production in 2006: Yes
Easily confused for: 767-300, 767-400, 777-200,
Main identifying points: The tail cone and tail are probably the 777's best identifier.. the tail-cone comes to a vertically flat ending with the APU exhaust protruding out of the left side only. Also the 777 has sharply edged tail that's somewhat small in mass but tall for the plane's size. From the front you can see the fuselage is not oval like most airplanes but completely circular. There are no winglets on the 777-200 or -300 models. This plane flies with the largest engines of any airliner. The GE90s engine cone is as large as some airliner's fuselages in fact. Lastly another easy thing to spot that's unique to the 777 is the triple bogey landing gear... three sets of double wheels on each main undercarriage landing gear. Other than Russian aircraft all other long range planes only have double ones.
Examples of Main Operators (all models): Continental, Delta, United, American, British Airways, Japan Airlines, ANA, Aeromexico, Varig, Alitalia, KLM, Aeroflot, Austrian, Air France, Emirates, Ethiad, Saudi Arabian, Pakistan International, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Thai Airways, Air New Zealand and many more. It's among the most popular long range high capacity airliners flying today. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Boeing_777_operators

Both Xavier and I took a break from the networking and schmoozing of The A List! We needed a refresher of all that is so cool about Second Life.

We found the Portugal Business Center and their Art Center. A psychedelic build of two triangular shapes floating in the void. Inside, the world was a mirror of an LSD trip gone wild.

Colors changing and vibrating... what fun! It immediately reminded us of the Rezzable sim, The Tunnel of Light. So off we went to visit an old favorite.

There is more shopping at TL now. Things to buy and things to see... lots of noob art... LOL! Those noobs in various positions of embarassment. So funny!

So nice to just chill with the creations of the builders and let our imaginations roam freely.

Western Sydney Awards in Business Excellence

Western Sydney Awards In Business Excellence Gets Bodypaint,

Today hundreds of Western Sydney based business people attended the annual Western Sydney Awards In Business Excellence to celebrate their successes.

The venue was the impressive Waterview Convention Center, located in Bicentennial Park.

We were surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, lakes and ponds.

My company, Human Statue BodyArt, was contracted by the Parramatta based Gyrate agency to deliver a human statue model bodypainted in the official colours of this years business awards - light blue, dark blue and white. As they say, a picture tells a thousand words, so be sure to check out the photographs of our creation here.

Our model for the day was the delightful Anastasiya Bakss and I was assisted by talented bodypainter Tony Cantali.

The end result of our creation was a human statue that complimented the awards theme, and one that tuned heads, raised eyebrows, and became quite the conversation piece as the otherwise rather conservative business people present got a close up look at bodypainting with a branding tie in, complete with an exhibition component.

Our friends at Fairfax Media (The Parramatta Sun) were also present. Stay tuned for a complete list of awards winners, but its safe to say that anyone who witnessed our bodypainted creation today also felt like a winner.

The organisers were delighted with the way everything went, and we're looking forward to continuing to work and collaborating with them again very shortly.

Business should incorporate fun, and we're glad to have done our modest little bit to tantalise and delight today.

“Facebook’s favorites list is useful, but not for messaging” $ FB #UX #FAIL #opinions

On the iPad app, Facebook displays a list of “favorites” when the app is viewed in landscape mode. I don’t know its particular algorithm implemented, but I can deduce based on experience that it has to do with frequency of interaction.

It is a great feature except that what I want it to do is most definitely not to message that person. I turn off chats anyway as it is an ineffective and distracting form of communication [1].

A better implementation would be to show the person’s feed so I can interact with. The 80-20 rule [2] certainly applies here, and I would say that using one third of the screen for the kind of interaction that users would use 20% of the time is a complete waste of space..

# Notes
1. A large percentage of humans think that “available for chats” equates “spammable targets” for infinite “how are you”s. Once engaged, it is impossible to end this nonsense with no apparent escape route without hurting anyone’s feelings. Oh humans.
2. The Pareto principle (also known as the 80–20 rule, the law of the vital few, and the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle

Since we decided to head back to Melbourne early, we worked out that we could arrive at Yarck just in time for lunch! Any excuse to try out this Sardinian outpost in country Victoria. :)

Yarck is one of those blink-and-you'll-miss-it towns, with not much more than a fire station and pub. Why chef/owner, Sardinian-born Pietro Porcu decided to open up here is a mystery to me, but on a Sunday afternoon, it was filled with well-dressed Melbourne types. Not a farmer in sight. His other restaurant is Da Noi in South Yarra.

As was recommended by The Age Good Food Guide 2009 and our friendly waitress, the best option is to leave the meal up to the kitchen, which we did. At AUD75 per head for 4 courses, it's not cheap, but not terribly expensive either, especially considering we were rolling out the door after coffees!

The food was simple, unpretentious, and very good, focusing on good produce and good cooking. The highlight was the Crab Spaghettini with saffron and a hint of chilli bound together with a rich crab stock and good olive oil. I suspected that the sauce had a drizzle of crab-shell oil as well, just to give t that extra whack of crab and the smokiness of burnt grilled shellfish. After that, eating the blue swimmer crab itself was a bit of an anticlimax, despite being superbly fresh.

The baked eggplant parmigiana was also superb. Silky smooth eggplant with a hint of charring with an intense tomato sauce and the cheesy hit of aged parmesan.

We were eyeing the Capretto Arrosto (roasted kid goat) on the menu as well and lo and behold we were served an interesting mix of ribs, neck and leg. I'm quite partial to the sticky gooeyness that usually goes with slow roasting and there was a bit of it around the ribs but the rest of the meat seemed a bit dry. Although there were some burnt bits that really had an intense goat flavour.
